Before you decide to spend the day with me in the great outdoors, you'll probably want to know a bit about me and how I got into fishing.

The beginning
I grew up living close to the sea and started fishing when I was very young with my grandfather, catching flounders in the sea using a hand line. As I grew older I carried on fishing the local ponds and rivers and eventually caught a trout on a small spinning rod with a worm and float. The thrill of landing my first trout is what got me hooked!
The reason
To me, casting a fly is one of the most satisfying things you can do, and to catch wild fish with fly and nymph imitations has got to be the most purist form of fishing. It means you have to develop a deep understanding of the natural setting of the area you're fishing, and as I'll teach you, you must 'match the hatch' and choose the most attractive fly to the fish.
The methods
There is no substitute for early fly-fishing lessons at the start of your learning process. It will save you months if not years of frustrating casting mistakes and ultimately failure to catch. My aim is to improve your technique and teach new skills like casting into the wind, single and double hauling for distance, the 'washing line' and New Zealand techniques.
The experience
Location is everything to me, and fishing surrounded by stunning scenery in wild places is what I live for. I love finding remote lakes that allow for an intimate connection with nature. That's what I enjoy sharing with learners, whether in a lake hunting beautiful trout or big pike, or in the sea chasing bass, it doesn't get any more exciting than this.
